Greetings everybody,
I'm Alex Dee. I've been on a journey to try to improve my health over the previous few years and have recently decided to start this blog to document the process. I hope to share my experiences with the world in the hopes that someone might find this helpful for their own health journey. My health journey essentially began in 2021 at the urging of family to see my family doctor. He conducted some testing, which showed that I had a number of problems which were causing me virtually no symptoms. Those problems included:
- Type two diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (formerly called fatty liver disease)
- Low HDL (the “good cholesterol”)
As a man under the age of 40 at the time, this was the wake-up call I needed to begin to take my health more seriously. Today, I'm on medications that treat both high blood pressure and type two diabetes. However, I've also been prompted to make additional lifestyle changes in order to improve my overall health. Some of these health changes have included the following:
- Getting additional exercise
- Making healthier food choices
- Becoming a vegetarian
- Lowering stress levels
My journey is still very much a work in progress. I only became serious about improving my health last year. Some days are much better than others for healthy choices. However, I've also made tangible progress towards better health as well, results that can be measured observationally. It's my hope that with this blog, I will continue to make improvements on overall health, and hopefully help others to do the same.
