Autumn Sky at Night

October 07, 2013 00:20:00 ADT

The crisp Autumn air twinkles the stars up above
Glowing with the firey passion of the gods
Orion draws his bow, prepared to shoot the moon
Castor and Pollux gaze upon his mastery

I reach up to touch the firey celestial beings
Up above in the heavens so high, they’re too far to touch
Orion keeps his bow drawn, aiming at the bright glow
The twins keep their gaze firmly fixed on him

I gaze upon them for hours on end
They move about the sky in a choreographed dance
The moves interpreted by the Greeks so long ago
Till the dark turns to light and the stars fade away

Slowly and surely the sultry sun rises
At first a faint glow, lighter blue than before
A few dimmer stars fade, frightened by the light
Until the sun greets us, and says farewell to the night
