Rest in Peace Paul

There he lay on the floor
Stiffer than that big oak door.
Under the dresser, like he slept
His death I now must accept.
I carried him out to the yard
A poet’s heart forever marred
Because now you’re gone away
On the bridge we’ll meet someday.
I dug your grave bit by bit
Till the soil was a fine grit.
I wrapped you up in that shawl
As if you were a fragile doll
I placed you carefully into the ground
And covered you up with a dirt mound.
Rest in peace deer friend of mine
In your first and final shrine.
